So, you haven’t hit the gym as often as you thought you would. Or maybe your eating habits don’t reflect the mood board you made for the year in January. Perhaps it’s a combination and you are starting to notice it with how your clothing has been fitting. Well, we’ve all been there. This is normal.
Give yourself some grace.
Sucking it in is cool and all, but what happens when you get comfortable or forget? The ways to look slimmer mentioned in this article are not designed to provide radical results but more subtle changes that can compliment your appearance in the best way. Think sculpting, elongating and highlighting what’s already there to create a subtle illusion, maximizing your self confidence.
The time will come when you will get back on track with those fitness and wellness goals. In the meantime, consider these tips to have you looking slimmer, even with a couple extra lbs:
SCULPT
A must have for the red carpet elite, shapewear is the go to for sculpting the body. Ranging from stockings, thongs, bodysuits or leggings, there are a ton of options out there to meet your needs. Truly, it’s a confidence booster that snatches your body in all the right places. It’s there for you when you are three glasses in, the DJ is playing your song and you’ve forgotten all about sucking it in.
CINCH
By adding a belt or wearing a high-waisted bottom, you are creating a shape that is most flattering to your female body. It can also hide a little tummy action that you don’t want seen. The goal to flatten this area, looking slimmer as much as possible is achievable by cinching.

LENGTHEN
You can achieve this by actually adding length with a pair of heels, pumps or something that will provide additional height. Extra points if the shoes are pointed. Pointed shoes will serve as an extension of your legs, adding to the illusion.

DARK COLORING
Infuse more black or dark colors into your wardrobe when trying to appear slimmer. When it comes to bottoms, I especially advise dark denim without any fading because it will help to sculpt and elongate your physical appearance. Denim that flares at the bottom also makes you look taller, slimmer and leaner, especially for women with wider hips, butts and thighs.

MONOCHROME
Although print and patterns are eye-catching ways to show personality and flair, they add volume to your appearance. By wearing solids, you are doing the opposite of that. It’s also helpful to keep things the same color. When things are two-toned, it tends to draw the eye to the section where the two colors meet (often being your tummy area). A monochrome look will trick the eye into believing that you look slimmer, taller and leaner than you actually are.

ELONGATE
Another way to add length to your appearance is to lengthen the area around your neck and chest. Think V-necks and long pendant necklaces. These will also help to draw the eye upward and bring balance to your hips and thighs, especially if these are problem areas for you. A little cleavage can distract and help you achieve your goal but there is such a thing as too much. Stay mindful, my loves!
